The 5th Queen’s Cup tournament is ready to tee off on Koh Samui

Samui / 4 June 2013 – Bangkok Airways, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Thailand, Thailand PGA and The Asian Tour has announced an up-coming Asian Tour Golf Tournament titled “Queen’s Cup Bangkok Airways – SAT Samui Golf Tournament 2013” at the press conference which was held at the Santiburi Samui Country Club. The tournament is scheduled to take place between 13 – 16 June 2013 at The Santiburi Samui Country Club, Samui. The US$300,000 worth tournament, sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Thailand PGA, is the Fifth Queen’s Cup – Asian Tour of the tournament and will be held in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.

Nandhika Varavarn, Vice President - Corporate Communications of Bangkok Airways said, “We are particularly excited to have organized this tournament for the Fifth year in honor of our beloved Queen Sirikit, we have always strived to take Thai golf tournament to the international level. Moreover, the tournament is hoped to draw a larger number of golf enthusiasts which consequently stimulate Samui’s tourism.” M.L. Nandhika Varavarn continues, “The previous years’ tournaments were very well received and were followed immensely from golf fans around the region which Samui has already become a new destination for Golf tourism.”
 
The tournament’s pro-am will be held on 12 June 2013 to give an exclusive chance to local amateur golfers to compete with Asia’s top pros. Moreover the tournament will be broadcasted live on True Sport while the Queen's Cup will also be featured in the Asian Tour Golf Show.
 
The tournament this year will include many famous Thai golfers such as Thavorn Viratchan (Winner – Queen’s Cup 2012 and Bangkok Airways Open 2008), Chaowalit Palapol (Winner – Bangkok Airways Open 2006 and Queen’s cup 2011), Chinnarat Phadungsilp (Winner – Queen’s cup 2009), Kiradech Aphibarnrat (Thai Professional golf player who is currently ranked no.2 in Thailand and No.9 on Asian tour), Prayad Marksaeng (winner of six Asian tour programs), Anon Vongvanich (Winner – King’s cup 2012) Tetsuji Hiratsuka (JPN) ZWinner - Queen’s Cup 2010),  Lee Sung (KOR) (Winner - Bangkok Airways Open 2007), Scoot Heng (AUS) (winner of third Asian Tour program),  Anirban Lahiri (IND) (winner of third Asian Tour program) as well as leading pros from around Asia.
